Invest in Art through Painting

From ArtVision360 we have set out to help you on your way to investing in art through painting. This time, we have chosen a selection of paintings from our trusted online gallery, the Buysculpture Art Gallery.

Investing in art differs in several ways from investing in financial assets. The work of art is in itself a unique, durable good that offers its owner not only financial benefits, but also decorative ones. Its profitability is not only based on the stability of the investment but also on the aesthetic delight. 97% of art buyers confess that their first purchase motivation is for a purely emotional aspect, while 49% mention being driven by pure return on investment. This latter percentage has increased markedly in recent years.

Before, the buyer of a work of art sought personal enjoyment, the pleasure of admiring and sharing, but now there is a very important part of the market that buys purely by investment and even by mere speculation. Globalization, the development of communications and the growth of the international economy have added depth and liquidity to the world art market. Investing in this asset class has seen the emergence of millions of potential new buyers in markets as far apart as Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America, when until a few decades ago, buying art was reserved only for an elite in the United States and Europe.

Like any investment, the buyer must know the risks assumed. In the case of works of art these are varied. When investing in art, it is essential to know the origin of the work, since there are many counterfeits and stolen works. Acquiring the work in auctions or recognized galleries will provide additional value, mainly as a background to its provenance.

Also, it is extremely important to analyze the state of conservation of the work and see that it has not undergone major or poorly made restorations that end up taking away value from the piece. Also, it is highly recommended to take out insurance to protect works with a certain market value, since insurance companies do not contemplate works of art within home insurance.

Investing in art includes many ingredients that other investment products may not have, so the recommendation is to always seek the guidance and advice of a specialist, as with any other type of investment.
